The Bane of Our Existence

Social media can be fun, and informative, and serves as a way to connect people. Unfortunately, it is also one of the banes of our collective existence. Even as a regular social media “enjoyer” (😳), I am thrilled knowing that managing and producing our social accounts is not my responsibility. However, I did enjoy splashing my brother and Creative Director with water in a recent TikTok video (He’s been asking us to eat bugs for followers though… 😒🦗).

Political Action & Game Design

We’ve also done a little more play-testing @ Pais Youth Counseling Center and we were able to get a bit of footage of that as well. They seemed to enjoy it! I’m very pleased with how the game has been received so far after the most recent changes. I righted some wrongs with the latest version as well. Up until recently, the (5) Town Hall and (9) Rally cards had no effect. For some reason, the implication of these political maneuvers was lost on me and the team for a while. In the latest ruleset, however, they now look like this!

On top of now having an effect that is more than just points on the field, they should synergize well with each other. A populist play style might not be viable yet but I don’t think it will take much more tweaking to give these mid-level cards the power they need to get the message across.

The real issue is that it’s very easy to make these cards broken. There was the idea of giving these cards a passive ability that activated whenever a blue token was placed but that seemed too exploitable. Maybe this effect is fine and what needs to be balanced is the amount of “people” cards in play. I could see a version of the Process where there are twice as many “people” cards as the others. You should really have the feeling of “POWER TO THE PEOPLE” when using these political maneuvers.
