Gastro-Entomology 🐛
Thank you (or curse you?) for supporting The Process on social media. We surpassed 300 followers on Instagram so… this had to happen:
They made me eat a bug! 🙃
I really should have objected more when the idea was originally introduced, but I didn’t think it would happen so soon. Perhaps future insect courses should be more thoughtfully handled (I hear crickets are a lot tastier than the beetle that I ate 🦗).
This week, however, I’m not only remembering an un-demure act of social media shenaniganry; I also have a small sneak peek at something you can look forward to relatively soon.
An online quiz!
Not Another Internet Quiz
On the home page of our website, we talk about our issues with civics in the United States. 3 out of 4 adults are not able to name the three branches of government. Only 22% of American students are testing proficient in civics. Our nation lacks basic civic competence and The Process is meant to help address this issue. But what’s something I could do before the card game is out?
Couldn’t I simply make a legislation-themed BuzzFeed quiz and call it a day? Well, yes but what would the fun in that be? That you could be in the top 22%? Now that game design is done for the the card game (for our first print run at least) I have a little bandwidth to try to make a civics quiz worth sharing.
Some details aren’t in stone yet, and this isn’t meant to be a BIG game project but hopefully, there should be just enough elbow grease for a fast-paced quiz you can challenge your friends with and a leaderboard just to show who’s in the top 22%! Perhaps when I get more into the weeds on this small project (and finally get done with all this manufacturing budgeting and research) then I can share more. Or maybe development will be a breeze and I’ll just be announcing the game in this blog! We’ll see in the coming weeks.
So stay tuned for updates on that and DEFINITELY challenge your friends once it’s out!
P.S: I did want to talk a bit about some things I learned about manufacturing and production but between entomological-mastication and game development, there didn’t seem to be a good way to talk about it. Maybe that should be next week’s topic!
